On the 4th of December, the Invitational Hockey Match took place in Sino, Suzhou. Two teams from NBC won the first and the second place of the match without losing any games.
Nanmo One started the match first, the players fiercely threatened the defense players and the goalie of their opponent. The great gap between two teams was suddenly showed: Megan Zhong, John Ma, Kevin Lin, Wayne Yu, Tom Huang and Alan Xiao all scored the goals. By the end of the match, Nanmo One won 7:0 easily and without fatigue. That’s really an awesome result and Mr. Sutherland, the coach of the team, was so excited that he praised his players with his inspiring words.
However, the second match wasn’t as easy as the first one. Although Kelvin Xu equalized the score gap, the offensive opportunities of our opponent were much more than us. Fortunately, Andrew Wu, our talented goalie, saved plenty of dangerous shots for us so that we could keep the score to the end of the match. “The offense players were really active enough to score several goals,” said Annie Chen from 11B, “Peter Huang and Andrew Wu were so powerful to defend our opponent.” Peter Huang also praised his partners: “Thanks for the carrying from my talented teammates, their expressions were so brilliant.”
“The offense players should come back to take part in the work of defense!” Mr. Dyck mentioned the problem seriously, “All the players should keep running! Just shoot the puck to the net! That’s pretty easy, you can do that!”
The third match took place at the same time, so all the players should focus on their matches. Nanmo One won their opponent with 3:1, Jasmine Huang and Megan Zhong scored the goals for their team. It should be an unforgettable experience for Megan Zhong to scored twice because the date of the match was her 18th birthday.
In the other site, Kelvin Xu scored again, Frank Huang and James Yeung scored his first goal for the school team. Mr. Dyck praised the players who were active to come back to take part in the work of defense especially during the last five minutes.
Finally, a hard-won successful match was got by us and two teams from our school won the champion and runner-up. “As the only Grade 11 player in the team,” said Jane Zhang from 11B, “It was lucky enough for me to win the championship with my partner in NanmoOne.” Andrew Wu from 12 A also expressed his wish of the new season: “The last year in NBC, I wish we will achieve the first and second place in BCOS then.”
The new season of hockey has just begun, both the Invitational Hockey Match and the Thurs Lunchtime Hockey Intermural League have enabled the NBC players to practice and improve their hockey skills, and the interscholastic matches can also enhance the friendship between the BC schools. We are deeply convinced that the satisfying result of these matches can attract more and more students to take part in this wonderful sport event.
Just play and have fun! Let’s go Nanmo! One, two, three, Lions!
