Congratulations to CINEC’s BC Offshore Schools for successfully passing the annual education quality inspection with excellent performance!
BC Offshore Schools (B.C.O.S.S.) is certified by the province of British Columbia Ministry of Education under its International Education Branch, all the courses of BC Offshore schools meet the requirements for curriculum, hours of instruction, textbooks, teaching methods and testing. BC Ministry of Education has a high standard of this program. Each year, an inspection team is sent to inspect both the administrative and curriculum aspects of the BC Program. The purpose is to ensure that students in this program can receive courses that meet the standards of the BC Ministry of Education. Over many years, CINEC’s partner schools have been highly praised by the BC Ministry of Education for their outstanding and stable performance.
In the past two weeks, four officials from BC Ministry of Education, Harry Moes, John Churchley, Bev Pulyk, and Heather Smith, carefully inspected four schools from the aspects of teachers’ qualification, teaching plan, teaching schedule, test arrangement, teaching materials , students achievements, academic performance, school’s facilities and safety, English library and the book’s number, school’s management etc. They are all very satisfied with each school’s performance and announced that all of these four schools’ BC Offshore Program met the requirements of the BC Ministry of Education and passed the annual inspection. He appreciated the organization that took place ahead of time on behalf of both the BC Principal and the Chinese administration as well as the honesty, openness and transparency of all staff. The following are some highlights and commendations for each school:
Canadian Secondary Wenzhou No. 22 School BC Offshore Program
Mr. Moes highly praised our school for spending 1 million RMB on improving facilities in the teaching building and creating such a comfortable learning environment for our students and teachers. Canadian Secondary Wenzhou No. 22 School is in line with international education standard. The staff works hard to improve the quality of international education. In order to meet the teaching and learning needs, the school is fully covered with wifi. It cultivates students the ability to utilize information technology for solving problems. Mr. Moes said he was most impressed when he asked BC teachers, “what do you like best about working here?” , they gave the same answer—” students”. Our BC teachers think their students respect themselves and respect others. Moreover, they have a sense of responsibility and study very hard. He is glad to see that BC teachers are working under such a great environment. He also hopes all the students in the program will become excellent international citizens under the joint effort of Chinese and BC teachers.
Jiaxing Senior High School BC Offshore Program
The staff in Jiaxing has established a rigorous application system and make sure the students enrolled in the program are able to keep up with the courses. At present, the total number of students at Jiaxing Senior High School B.C.O.S.S. has reached 120, which has greatly increased. Jiaxing has achieved a 100% graduation rate and 100% overseas university admission rate, which is a great achievement. Students here also have great mathematical ability. The education reform in BC province changed the provincial examination of mathematics into the assessment of mathematical ability, which requires students to have not only solid mathematical ability to solve practical problems, but also have an excellent reading comprehension ability. Moreover, students at Jiaxing Senior High School B.C.O.S.S. have good English communication skills. The great improvement of students’ English was made by the “speak English loudly” activity initiated by Jiaxing Senior High School B.C.O.S.S.. It created a positive and comfortable atmosphere for students to practice their English.

Luwan Senior High School BC Offshore Program
First of all are the strong bonds between the domestic and BC program. Chinese and BC teachers are collaborating together on a number of fronts and learning from each other. The inspectors also noted that the BC program has access to state of the art facilities. Most noteworthy are the newly renovated physics, chemistry, biology and robotics labs. Teachers and students will continue to take ever greater advantage of these opportunities. The B.C.O.S.S. program also has a brand new computer lab which has helped with providing online courses and for self-directed learning. It was also apparent to the inspectors that Luwan B.C.O.S.S. has gone above and beyond on many fronts to implement the new curriculum with its emphasis on the core competencies of communication, critical thinking, creative thinking, positive personal & cultural identity, personal awareness & responsibility, and social responsibility. The English language achievements at Luwan B.C.O.S.S. were also duly noted. This is evident in their scores on last year’s provincial exams which were nearly as high as students in British Columbia where many students have English as their first language. It is also evident in all of the great English discussions going on in the classroom and in the hallways outside of class every day.
