Former students of the Shanghai Nanyang Model Private High School graduation class of 2017 have recently been recognized by their respective universities. Mitchell Ho, who attends the University of Waterloo, has been recognized by earning the Ruth Taylor scholarship ($1,500). To earn this scholarship Mitchell had to maintain a high GPA and the high quality of extra-curricular activities (sports, volunteering, and service). The scholarship was given to Mitchell at a recent ceremony in February by David Taylor, the son of Ruth Taylor, who congratulated Mitchell for his hard work and many extra curricular activities he has been involved with. Mitchell said, “I feel very fortunate to earn this scholarship and certainly” my hard work in high school has helped me with my work habits at university. However, the best thing that happens was this scholarship helped me get an internship at CIBC Data Operations.”
Mandy Wang recently earned the New College Council In-Course Scholarship of $1000. The award is in recognition for her overall academic achievement for the 2017-2018 Fall/Winter Session. Mandy is enrolled at New College in the Faculty of Arts and Science, at the University of Toronto. The award, like Mitchell’s, is a witness of Mandy’s academic performance in her first year of university life and all the activities she takes part in. Mandy said, “…there are still two more years to come. I try my best to keep maintaining a well-balanced lifestyle by pursuing the pleasure in life: being a leader of a Acapella singing group, spending time with my friends, and working part-time to at least somehow make up for expensive living expenses in Toronto.”
