CINEC is pleased to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Lee Smith, PhD, and Ron Berg on their appointments as BC Offshore School Representatives with CINEC. This dual recognition reflects not only their remarkable individual achievements, but also their shared commitment to the success of BC offshore schools around the world.

Dr. Lee Smith brings with him nearly 30 years of educational experience, ranging from classroom teacher to Principal and university lecturer. With a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Alberta, Lee has spent over a decade supporting and leading BC offshore schools in China. His dedication to international education and his service on the executive body of the Canadian Association of Studies in Educational Administration make him a highly respected figure in the global education community. Now residing in Hanoi, Vietnam, Lee continues to bring deep insight and strategic leadership to his work.

Ron Berg likewise contributes a wealth of leadership experience within both offshore and onshore BC school systems. Having served as Principal in a BC public school in Canada as well as at a BC offshore school in China, Ron has cultivated a unique and balanced perspective on BC education. His fluency in Mandarin and deep understanding of Asian culture have helped him build bridges across contexts. Ron was instrumental in guiding CINEC schools through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and he continues to foster a forward-thinking and collaborative culture across all CINEC schools. He currently lives in Richmond, BC with his wife and two children.

We are excited to see how Lee and Ron will continue to shape and strengthen the BC Offshore School Program in their new representative roles. Their leadership, vision, and dedication will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our students, staff, and partner communities.

Congratulations once again to both of you on this well-deserved achievement!
