Canadian Standard English (CSE)

The CSE Program is designed not only to further strengthen the Chinese students’ English ability but also to support them in achieving high marks on their English examinations in China.

Developed by our team of British Columbia educators, the Canadian Standard English Program learning outcomes for each grade in the elementary and middle schools are based upon those prescribed for English as Second Language learners, as well as, based on the English requirements of the Chinese education system.

This program provides a systematic methodology, and is taught by instructors whose native language is English. The CSE Program is designed not only to further strengthen the Chinese students’ English ability but also to support them in achieving high marks on their English examinations in China. Implementation of the program is tailored to each collaborative educational institution and school where the Program is offered.

The Canadian Standard English elementary and middle school curricula use contextual themes found in Chinese-English textbooks used by the schools in China. The Canadian Standard English Program adapts both China’s English program and Canadian ESL program to provide a teaching and learning system that is advanced, yet meets each school’s special needs.

The Canadian Standard English Program is delivered by qualified and experienced native English-speaking Canadian Instructors. These instructors:

  • Work in collaboration with the grade-specific Chinese-English teachers
  • Are primarily responsible for the students’ acquisition of the oral and aural English language abilities, while the Chinese-English teachers are primarily responsible for the acquisition of the reading and writing abilities

First launched in August 2004 in China, the demand of the Canadian Standard English Program has grown. The program is recognized by foreign educational institutions as one with a high success rate in student achievement and acquisition of the English language
